We are in the process of arranging our 2002-2003 concert season and would
like to give you a preview of some upcoming events:
2002-2003 will be an event-filled year for Carolyn Sinclair and Michael
Jarvis...
The Baroque Players of Hamilton are planning two wonderful concerts for
next season: "Oh! The Sweet Delights of Love" Songs, duets and
harpsichord solos by Henry Purcell, Nicolas Bernier, and George Frideric
Handel with Carolyn Sinclair, soprano Eric Shaw, tenor Margaret Gay,
baroque 'cello Michael Jarvis, harpsichord

In September Carolyn Sinclair and Michael Jarvis will be joined by Julie
Baumgartel, baroque violin and Margaret Gay, barqoue 'cello to record
Handel's wonderful Nine German Arias, for CD.

Sunday, December 1 at 8 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Hamilton
The Choir of St. Joseph's Church will be joined by an orchestra of some
of Canada's finest period-instrument performers, including Normal Engel,
baroque trumpet, and vocal soloists Carolyn Sinclair, soprano; Jo-Anne
Bentley, mezzo-soprano; Dennis Giesbrecht, tenor; Peter Fisher, baritone;
and Michael Jarvis, conductor in an exciting programme of German Baroque
Canatas. J.S. Bach's joyful Cantata 147 "Herz und Mund" (featuring the
famous chorale setting, "Jesu, joy") and his famous Cantata 51 "Jauchzet
Gott" a tour-de-force for soprano and baroque trumpet. Also on the
programme is A Telemann motet "Laudate Jehovam" and a Magnificat setting
by Buxtehude. Tickets are $20 general and $15 students/seniors. This
concert usually sells out, so tickets can be reserved by calling the St.

On Saturday, December 1 at 8 p.m. at Ryerson United Church in Hamilton,
the Mohawk College Singers will present the complete Covent Garden
version of Handel's beloved oratorio "Messiah." Soloists Carolyn
Sinclair, soprano; Vicki St-Pierre, mezzo-soprano; Eric Shaw, tenor, the
bass is TBA, will be joined by an orchestra conducted by Michael Jarvis.
This concert, too is destined to be a sell-out. Tickets and further

On Friday, March 21 at 8 p.m. March 21, 8:00 PM. CHRISTOS HATZIS @ FIFTY:
A Birthday Celebration. On the day of Christos' fiftieth birthday some of
Canada's finest musicians will pay tribute to the composer through his
music. The music will include Equivoque for harpsichord and tape,
perfomred by Michael Jarvis, harpsichord. Walter Hall; Edward Johnson

On Friday, April 4 and Saturday April 5 Canada's Baroque Danse Company,
"La Belle Danse" presents a stunning production featuring a Vauxhall
Garden's Entertainment followed by the Prologue to Lully's operatic
masterpiece, Armide. Daniel Gariepy, La Belle Danse's Artistic Director
will be joined by other baroque danse specialists, as well as sopranos
Carolyn Sinclair and Mary Bella, as well as a period instrument ensemble
and chorus directed by Michael Jarvis. La Belle Danse presents stage
works as authentically as possible, including fabulous costumes
especially re-created for the event. For further information, please see

On Friday, May 23 and Sunday, May 25 the world premiere of Ian McAndrew's
five act chamber opera "Cassandra" will be performed. Featuring a stellar
cast with Carolyn Sinclair in the title role, as well as Jane Archibald,
Michael Colvin, Jo-Anne Bentley, and Andrew Tees with a chamber orchestra
conducted by Michael Jarvis. We have been totally blow away by the power
of this amazing work, and it's stunning, dramatic libretto by GJ Portman.

In June 2003 Carolyn and Michael will be taping "Come into the Parlour",
a 13-part television series for Vision TV/PBS featuring music of the 19th
century. Filming will be at Toronto's historic George Brown House with
Carolyn and Michael's historic original 1857 Chickering fortepiano. Each
episode will feature a theme (A Jane Austin Parlour; Come into the
Parlour at Canadian Conferation...), and a guest artist from Canada's
finest nationally and internationally-known musicians. Our new website
