The next BPH concert takes place this weekend: Sunday, February 1,
2004 at at 3 pm at St. Joseph's Church (Locke and Herkimer Streets in
Hamilton).
"A Woman Scorned" features two wonderful Italian cantatas by
Handel: "Armida Abbandonata" and "Tu fedel? Tu Costante?" These two
canatas are slightly unusual for the baroque period in that they tell the
story from the woman's point-of-view; both cantatas deal with the problem
of unfaithful lovers, with lots of passion, fire and vengeance! We will
also feature Handel's exquisite Trio Sonata in G major, op. 5, no. 4
Carolyn Sinclair is the soprano; she will be joined by baroque violinists
Rona Goldensher and Julia Wedman; as well as Margaret Gay, baroque 'cello
and Michael Jarvis, harpsichord.
Tickets are $20 general admission; $15 students/seniors; $10 children
under twelve, and are available by calling 905-523-1602, or at the
door.
Hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Michael Jarvis
Also, don't miss "Come into the Parlour"; Carolyn and Michael's weekly
television series, currently broadcasting on Vision-TV on Sunday and
Wednesday evenings at 9.30 p.m. and Monday afternoons at 4.30 p.m.
