From wparker@canon.com.au Wed, 19 Sep 2001 15:52:36 +1000 Date: Wed, 19 Sep 2001 15:52:36 +1000 From: wparker@canon.com.au wparker@canon.com.au Subject: [Gss-users] New User Intro Greetings All, I have installed Gss as per Marcel's article in LJ and taken the time to read most of the archives and READMEs relating to DBI/DBD etc. I admit to being pretty green though I have usually had success in seeing the errors in my ways with Linux. My head is spinning from getting through to the final stages of installing Gss and when I launch my browser I find that it does not work properly. The admin page displays with the images when accessed from a Win2K box but the images are broken when viewed from Konqueror on the Apache Server. Additionally it seems that most of the links are broken or not invoking the proper scripts (which do execute when keyed in a terminal). I thought it to be a path issue or something but have had no luck here. I am running RedHat7.1 and using the latest installers of all packages PostgreSQL, DBD,DBI and Gss with Perl5.6.0 (all executables should be in the right place). The apache home directories seem to be /var/www/cgi-bin .../html etc... but I am seeing stuff about unknown user 'www' in the install messages of Gss. I was also confused about the way Gss asked about the creation of the two users Root and Nobody (which I had already created when initialising pgsql) which failed. Virtually none of the links work on the Linux Server but Help and some of the other links like All the Docs and What's New do work from the Win2K box. Very sorry to be stumped in what must be a very newbie kind of way but if anybody can help - I would appreciate it. Humbly Will Parker, Print Solutions Network Consultant, Canon Australia.
