[Wftl-lug] setting up a catalog PC

I have some questions about setting up a catalog PC for a small rural public
library that my wife works at.

Currently they have a wired network using win 2k, a couple of the computers
are for staff only, then they have several internet only PCs for the
public. The old card catalog is no longer updated, any new books aren't
added to it, instead they are put in to an electronic catalog that's online.
They want another public PC that is only for the catalog but don't have the
funds for a new one.

I have an old 450Mhz PC and was thinking of setting it up for a catalog only
PC, I was thinking of throwing in a ethernet pci card and installing DSL as
the OS (I've read that it handles old slow PCUs well).

I have only dabbeled a bit in Linux and know nothing about networks, how
sound is my idea?

Will I run in to any problems using a Linux PC to access the high speed DSL
on a network with all Win 2k PCs?

I'm open to any comments or suggestions.

Thanks.
