The problem is, wireless isn't something you break in updates or from
release to release. For most people not having wireless is a show
stopper. When people criticise Linux for reasons like this it's well
deserved IMHO. I Love Linux, and don't run Windows at home on any
machine (I own a couple of legitimate XP Licenses). But having to run
1 kernel older than the current FC6 kernel release and NOT being able
to run FC7 because of it also breaks wireless is simply unacceptable.
I've modified grub.conf to boot a slightly older FC6 kernel, but I
really shouldn't have to do this. Rob Day, a kernel patch contributor,
happens to agree with me on the wireless issue. It's a no brainer: you
don't fix what isn't broke.
