For your temporary URL in Firefox, you could simply drag the icon beside the URL in the address bar, to the bookmark bar, or even a folder created specifically for temporary URLs on the bookmark bar.

When you're done with the URL, it's then only a right-click and delete away.

It appears that Firefox, unlike IE, has no way to put a URL link on the desktop, i.e., a link you need for a few days but for which you do not want to create a bookmark. I suppose one could achieve that in some round and about way but that's not the point.
