TIMTOWTDI (a Phrase familiar to perl fans)
There is also tracker which has some fans when it comes to desktop search.

Right now I use beagle with deskbar-applet as a front-end. As I get
familiar with it, I find that I am spending less and less time using find
from a terminal window. Speaking of which, tilda is a great utility for
those who like the terminal window. I have my PF12 set to drop down the
terminal.
