[Wftl-lug] Cannot install XP (yeah yeah, I know)

I do not ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever wanna here how
great hardware detection is in Windows ever ever ever ever ever ever ever
ever ever again!

Here is what I have to do just to get XP: to recognize that the computer
does, in fact, have a flippin hard drive.

First I have to find the right SATA driver. Here is the fun part, there are
2 nearly identical files contained on intel matrix storage manager's driver
set. The one I think I want to get is ICH8M Sata AHCI driver for mobile.
There is a lot of confusion on this for me, but I am mostly kinda sure the
right one is the AHCI driver.

Here are all the files that the matrix storage manager throws on a floppy:

http://mobius9.com/INTEL_MATRIX_FLOPPY.zip
I will need these files to get SATA running.

Now, because Sony will not play nice with the floppy or even an external
floppy from a USB, I cannot use a floppy drive for installation. Instead, I
have to make my own custom install of XP.

How do I do this, you ask? First, download NLiteOS. This is a program that
makes custom XP installations. It gives you the option to make your install
unattended, add drivers, windows themes, or remove unwanted elements of the
install. I will begrudgingly admit that its a neat little program, here's
how it works.

1. Install Nlite to a functioning computer.

2. Insert your XP Disk into the cd drive.

3. Run Nlite, it will ask you where your xp installation is. Chose the drive
the XP disk is in.

4. Next, it will ask you where you would like to save your installation.

5. Next, Task Selection Screen will come up. Make sure you check Drivers,
and Bootable ISO.

6. Next, you have the chance to insert the SATA Driver. Click Insert >
Single Driver. From the Intel Matrix Install Floppy, chose iaahci.inf, it
will open up a screen of the constraining drivers. Select the HEM/HBM SATA
AHCI controller (mobile).

7. Next, you have the options to change the default values of the XP
install, you can pre-insert your serial number so you never have to type it
in at installation.

8. Next, it will build your install of windows. Click yes when it asks : do
you want to start the process

9. Next, the final step. You have the option to either burn your install to
a disk or write it as an image file.

Ubuntu's honor is defended in my humble opinion. Sony is just a stinky maker
of stinky stuff.
