I'll tell ya it's really hard to find that most basic,
roots type of info about computers, I mean the stuff
even "Linux for Dummies" doesnt't think you need to be
told. After trying to download Mandriva One (free)
several times, I quit. I got it to the desktop, then
to C;, but from the desktop, I got a message "windows
doesn't recognize this file type. search the internet"
which came up with nothing. From C:, it opened to
"Intersites Menu", which offered mirror sites, a link
to BitTorrent, and such, but I'm not sure what to do.
I was ready to pay for a Linux release, but I'm not a
heavy user...just surfing, music (record, edit,
burn),and word processing. $40 would seem to be very
fair for Linux, but I just don't need a lot. So I
ordered Mandriva One thru the mail, and I'd be glad to
pay for help, preferably on the phone.(I'm expecting
no manual with the CD.)
