Speaking from a personal perspective, "Who cares???!!???" They lost me
when they dumped Marcel.
I *did* subscribe to the first issue because Marcel had input into that.
However, the registration process annoyed was another thing that
annoyed me. You couldn't subscribe unless you input a job title. "For
Pete's sake", it was supposed to be a magazine for newbies, so who cares
what the job title was *and* do you need a job title to read a Linux
magazine?. Besides, I know for a fact because I have seen letters to
the editor in other Linux magazines and I know that there are people
that are incarcerated that read Linux magazines. So, what were these
people supposed to use as a job title, "Jailbird"?
After Marcel was severed, *everything* in my opinion deteriorated. The
website was lively with good input when Marcel was at the helm and that
was deteriorated rapidly when Marcel was gone!
Thank heaven Marcel still writes the Cooking Column for LJ or that
publication would lose me too!
I'm sitting here killing myself laughing because I think it looks good
on the Tux people to see the magazine go down the poop shoot! (Sorry, I
know many will not agree with me, but I've been annoyed ever since the
gave Marcel the boot - and in a not very nice way, I might add! I
honestly don't know what the content beyond the first issue was because
I personally boycotted the magazine because of the way they treated Marcel!)
Okay, so now I'll get down off my high horse ... many will not agree
with me, but I *am* entitled to an opinion, just as other people are
entitled to theirs! :-)
Take care all,
Colleen
