[Wftl-lug] No more TUX Magazine

So what is it that people want to know about the Linux Desktop? It's a
very broad topic considering how many window managers, file managers,
and useful open source applications there are out there. Is talking
about the eye candy features of the Enlightenment window manager
appealing?

I'd like to do a Linux Desktop magazine that is free much the same way
professional programmers share their code in free software. To be
successful I think it needs to be a community effort with a small
group of people (project) coordinating on the release of the magazine.
Back in 1998 I started a print newsletter called FreeBSD Newbie. I
made many mistakes, including just writing what I knew instead of
asking what people wanted to know about, and trying to do everything
myself (the biggest mistake). I circulated the newsletter free to 20
businesses around the world. By the third issue I was out of steam,
but I did have an offer of full sponsorship from a large UNIX hardware
vendor. It was a quick lesson that I couldn't do everything myself. To
do a community newsletter you really need the input of the community.

In that spirit is anyone interested in organizing a few issues of a
Linux Desktop magazine? I was thinking of:

* artists (humour)
* writers
* web development specialists
* editors
* people new to Linux to review drafts

I've registered the domain name http://www.tuxzine.com/ as a first step.
