I personally use SoundJuicer. My only complaint about it is it's
non-intuitive on how to set it up to rip MP3s. To do that, you'll need to
look around for some instructions and install some plugins to make that
happen.

I got it working under Fedora, but I don't remember where I got the
information.

Not sure what the best way would be outside of downloading the gzip
archives and searching those.
