No worries. I personally don't like much of the autocomplete functions as
they're not intuitive for me. I appreciate it when it works, but most of
the time it's a distraction.

Totally. I'm one of those freaks that would love to have vi
keys/functionality everywhere. I'm weird that way, though. :)

And the other point that I was going to make, but didn't because it seems
rather snobbish, was that perhaps the parent poster might want to consider
investing some time with a touch typing program and speed keys on the
computer. I have my own style of typing, which is a mash-up of enlightened
hunt and peck and good touch typing practice, but I've used keyboards so
much that I can do it without looking at the keyboard all of the time.
Increasing your typing speed instead of relying on computer programs to do
the heavy lifting can have a huge impact on your productivity. Learning
the shortcut (or speed) keys like CTRL-C, CTRL-V, etc. can also have huge
payoff. These are portable, so if you use a computer at work, at home, or
at an Internet Cafe, you'll still be able to function just fine. Of
course, that's my quirk: redefining the problem as I see it, not as the
end-user sees it.
To each their own, though. I'm on several Life-Hacking sites, and would
like to try something like Quick Silver (which is a Mac application) or
ActiveWords (which is primarily a Windows Application) for keyboard
shortcuts. Alas, the command-line and aliases are my keyboard shortcuts of
choice. :)
