My last Ubuntu experience was 6.06 and I was not happy with it.  Coming from Freespire/Linspire world, I needed more just works going on.  I was following the development of Feisty intently.  It has some bells and whistles in it I needed to have my cake and eat it without having to automatix.  ;) 
Same here: I was OK with 6.06 from a stability point of view, but it had old software (OOo, Firefox, etc), no media codecs, and insufficient usability (e.g. no way to change desktop geometry), awful font handling, and so on. If the version that has all those things does not even install, well, again, I rest my case!
