Welcome to the Free Open Source Software community. This list is a good
place to get questions answere.

This is wonderful. I have had no end of trouble dealing with ATT on bhalf
of other newbies I have been helping. Of course, it is sort of a case of
the blind leading the blind, because my computer skills are really quite
limited. I had actually recently been recommending people NOT use ATT or
SBC because they are not Linux-friendly, whereas Comcast just works when you
hook it up to a Linux box. I must be doing something wrong. ATT usually
requires that you use their software to hook up, and their software runs
only on Windows, has been my experience.
I have a friend who is a member of this list, and we actually had to switch
distros from SuSE to Ubuntu to SuSE again because he uses ATT, and it was a
complete and total nightmare for him. We spent days and days struggling
with that problem. I was worried that he was going to give up on Linux
altogether and go back to a Mac, or worse yet, go with Windows Vista.
